Julie Dunn, Dunn’s ReDone and Founder of Whidbey Island Crafter’s Market

I started sewing at about the age of 8. All these years later, I can’t admit to being a tailor or fashion designer, but I’m good at small useful things like bowl cozies and shirt-tail aprons!

My true passion is the Crafter’s Market in downtown Oak Harbor, Washington. It is here that I have been able to bring a lifelong dream to life. A dream that had been buried away during my years of military service (Navy), raising a family and dealing with everything life threw my way.

My retirement at the end of 2019 brought me to this beautiful island where I had spent many summers camping with my family. Once settled, I was able to explore our downtown area, which sparked that lifelong dream of owning a community market where crafters could display and sell their art. With a little help from my friends, Whidbey Island Crafter’s Market opened to the public in June 2022.

The Crafter’s Market has evolved over these past years to become a true community effort. Our combined talents and commitment have carried us through the rough spots as we continue to project forward. I am forever grateful for this opportunity to support local artists, crafters and the community of Whidbey Island Washington.

Based on Whidbey Island, Sandy creates fused-glass pieces that reflect the crazy gap between intention and surprise. She imagines endless glossy outcomes and then works backwards – playing with color and shape and then coaxing the kiln to cooperate. Of course, glass often has its own ideas, and those unexpected twists are her favorite part of the process, the part where the glass asserts itself. Visit her work at Whidbey Crafters Market in Oak Harbor, WA or online at www.indigotides.art.

My name is Kim Jordan, and I am the creator of EveryDay Sparkle. I have been making jewelry for over 20 years. It all started when I wanted a pair of earrings to match an outfit one night when I was going out with my husband. Little did I know that I would still be making all kinds of sparkle all the years later. I have gifted it to family and friends, made it for wedding parties, and just kept some for myself. My one of kind custom pieces are made for any occasion. I carefully handmake each piece and handle it with thought and kindness to bring a smile to the person wearing it. Stop by Whidbey Island Crafter’s Market & Studio on Pioneer in Oak Harbor to see more of my designs.

At Time Tokens, we’re two Whidbey Island sisters sharing our love of handmade art, playful details, and one-of-a-kind creations. We’re Laura Lynch and Becky Thompson—sisters, lifelong makers, and the creative duo behind our family-run craft business. We create cheerful, handmade pieces designed to make people smile, from whimsical gnomes and charming little creatures to dream catchers, macrame art, and scenic photo gifts inspired by the beauty around us. What started as a love of crafting at home has grown into a joyful way for us to share a little wonder, laughter, and local creativity with our community.

Growing up on Whidbey Island, we were surrounded by creativity from the very beginning. Our mom encouraged us to explore, experiment, and turn ordinary materials into something special, and that spirit still shapes everything we make today. We love working with a mix of textures and materials, often incorporating natural elements and repurposed finds like wood pieces, glassware, cups, and saucers to create one-of-a-kind gifts and décor with a playful Pacific Northwest feel.

Laura’s main focus is gnome-making, a creative path that took off during the COVID-19 pandemic and quickly became a true passion. Each gnome has its own personality, and many are inspired by local Whidbey and Washington themes. Becky brings her own magic to Time Tokens through fun macrame creations and beautiful photographs of Whidbey Island, which she shares on greeting cards and magnets. Together, we love letting ideas evolve naturally, which means there is always something fresh, fun, and unexpected finding its way into our collection.

The best part of what we do is seeing someone spot a gnome that makes them laugh or a photo that reminds them of Whidbey Island. For us, crafting is part creative expression, part stress relief, and part family fun—and we hope that feeling comes through in every piece we share. When you visit Time Tokens at the Whidbey Island Crafter’s Market, you’ll find handmade art created with heart, humor, and a love for this island community. Come visit us at the market and explore the latest handcrafted pieces we’ve created with heart and a little whimsy.

I’m Shelly Gonsalves art has always been my passion. Growing up in a Navy family, I moved frequently—living in places like Virginia, Texas, Japan, and Guam—before settling in Oak Harbor, WA. These diverse experiences exposed me to many cultural traditions that continue to influence my work.

After graduating from Coupeville High School, I earned an associate degree in Welding Technology from Bellingham Technical College. Through welding, I explored metal sculpture and kitchenware design and even competed in the Welding Rodeo. While I loved the creativity, health concerns led me to step away and explore other artistic outlets.

Over the years, I continued creating through knitting—making scarves, blankets, and baby items for family and volunteering with the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society. After returning to Whidbey Island with my family, I rediscovered my passion for painting when I found a painted rock with my daughter. That moment reignited my love for creating, eventually expanding into mandala art, painted rocks, and digital design.

Today, I’m a mother of two and a passionate artist working in both traditional and digital mediums, with a special love for mandala art. I create late at night after my kids are asleep, and I’m grateful to share work that brings joy to others. I look forward to continuing to grow—expanding from painted rocks and mandalas to canvas and beyond.

Nature Notches by Noni was born from a lifelong career in professional arboriculture and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the natural world. After retirement, I began transforming wood into handcrafted garden art, including gnomes, mushrooms, wood spirits, and owls, each piece inspired by the character and spirit of the forest.

Together, my wife and I have expanded our collection to include cement-cast garden creations that complement our whimsical woodland aesthetic. Every piece is thoughtfully crafted to bring charm, personality, and a touch of nature-inspired artistry to gardens, patios, and outdoor spaces.
